Yes this is the command you are right But only for Minecraft 1.12 and below If you want to detect in a custom radius for Minecraft 1.13 and higher, you need to use the distance tag, like this if you want to detect players in a 5 blocks radius Treats blocks within blast radius (except bedrock, end portal, end gateway, end portal frame, command block, structure block, structure void and barrier) as having a blast resistance of no more than 0.8. When the objective ticks for that player, you will want to summon 2 (or 3) helper entities at ^1 ^ ^ and ^ ^ ^1 (and ^ ^1 ^ if a vertical displacement is wanted).

I thought about summoning beforehand armor stands in every block of the place where the chest can be placed in, then tp them like 20 blocks away, and when the player will press the button it will check at every armor stand to see if there is a chest 20 blocks from it.

If it is when it is placed I'm afraid I can't immediately think of a solution, but if it is when the chest is opened the following might work:Add a scoreboard objective which tracks when a chest is opened (idk if this also triggers when other inventories are opened, but if you need an ender chest or a trapped chest they have custom objectives for usage). The problem is that the command needs to be executed when the player presses a button, so it has nothing to do with when the chest is placed or opened or with the player's position.

"execute positioned" is for known coordinates, and "execute at" works only for entities, so do you know another way?

I want to take some specific items from a chest in a certain radius, and the problem is that the chest can be placed anywhere by the player in that area. You could instead make use of the spawn chunks, where command blocks will always function regardless of where the player is in the world.
Then add in another entity at the players position (such as an arrow) and store the position of the helper entity (scaled down by a factor of 0.1 or 0.01, what you prefer) in the motion data tags of that arrow entity.
